Cal Sag Channel Death: 19-Year-Old Tabarak Al Najjar Found Dead

ALSIP ILLINOIS, authorities have identified a 19-year-old woman who died after being found in the Cal Sag Channel on Tuesday afternoon.
According to officials, emergency crews from the Alsip Fire Department and officers with the Palos Heights Police Department responded at approximately 4:30 p.m. near 131st Street following reports of a person in the water.
Upon arrival, first responders located a young woman in the channel and immediately began rescue efforts.
The victim was removed from the water and transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Despite life-saving measures, she was later pronounced dead.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 19-year-old Tabarak Al Najjar of Crestwood.
Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
It remains unclear how she entered the water, and officials have not indicated whether foul play is suspected.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the cause and manner of death.
