PLANT CITY FLORIDA, Plant City High School in Plant City, Florida was placed on lockdown Friday after reports that a student may have brought a gun onto campus.
School officials initiated the lockdown as a precaution while law enforcement responded to the situation. Authorities urged the public to stay away from the campus while officers investigate and work to ensure the safety of students and staff.
The school is located in Hillsborough County, Florida, and deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the campus following the report.
Officials asked parents and community members not to come to the school during the lockdown, warning that doing so could interfere with emergency response efforts.
“Everyone is urged to avoid the campus at this time,” authorities said while the investigation remains active.
