ANTELOPE CALIFORNIA, A Code Red lockdown was initiated Friday at Center High School after authorities received a bomb threat, prompting a large response from law enforcement and precautionary safety measures in the surrounding area.
According to officials, the lockdown began around noon as deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office responded to the campus to investigate the reported threat. The school was immediately placed under strict lockdown procedures to protect students and staff.
Witnesses reported a heavy police presence around the high school, with multiple patrol units arriving at the campus in the Antelope area as deputies began assessing the situation.
Authorities have not confirmed whether any bomb or explosive device has been found inside the school. Investigators are continuing to search the campus and nearby areas as part of the response.
Nearby businesses also took precautionary measures during the incident. A Walmart located close to the school was reportedly placed on lockdown while law enforcement worked to secure the area.
