ST. AUGUSTINE FLORIDA, Authorities are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and two others injured near the intersection of Johns Island Parkway and Chestnut Oak Road in St. Johns County.
According to preliminary information, first responders arrived at the scene and located three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
Officials said one victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second victim suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. Emergency medical personnel reported the individual was conscious and breathing before being transported by air ambulance to a regional trauma center for advanced treatment.
A third victim sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital. Authorities have not released details regarding the severity of that person’s injuries.
The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the shooting occurred in the area of Crimson Leaf Drive and Johns Island Parkway. Detectives have secured the scene and are working to determine the circumstances that led to the gunfire.
Authorities have not released information about potential suspects or what may have led to the incident.
