Fall River Director of Veterans Services Announces Run for State Representative, Outlines Priorities

FALL RIVER MASSACHUSETTS, Talos Farris, a veteran and the current Director of Veterans Services for the City of Fall River, has pulled nomination papers and announced his candidacy as a Republican for State Representative in the 7th Bristol District.
According to a campaign release, Farris is running under the theme “Real Leadership. Real Change,” emphasizing engaged representation, practical legislation, and measurable results for families in Fall River and surrounding communities.
“Our district deserves leadership that shows up, listens, and delivers,” Farris said in the announcement. He cited affordability, housing costs, and rising expenses as ongoing concerns affecting local families and stated that legislative action should reflect the economic realities facing residents.
Farris brings more than 20 years of experience in military service, public administration, and community engagement. In his current role, he assists veterans and residents with housing stability, access to benefits, and coordination with public safety agencies.
He stated that as Fall River undergoes waterfront redevelopment and infrastructure investment, growth should benefit current residents and workers in the community.
If elected, Farris said his priorities would include strengthening public safety resources, advancing tax and energy policies aimed at easing financial pressure on working families, addressing housing challenges, supporting veterans and seniors, and promoting economic policies that support small businesses and job growth.
Farris will begin collecting signatures as part of the 2026 election cycle.
The 7th Bristol District, which includes part of Fall River, is currently represented by Alan Silvia, who has served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives since January 2013. His current term runs through January 2027.
