MARIETTA, GA., A 21-year-old man identified by family and loved ones as Kyle Bassinga has been found deceased in a wooded area of Fair Oaks Park after previously being reported missing.
The Cobb County Police Department confirmed that officers responded to the park Wednesday morning, Feb. 18, 2026, after receiving a 911 call reporting the discovery of a body in the woods. Authorities later confirmed the individual was Bassinga.
According to investigators, witnesses reported seeing Bassinga walk alone into a wooded section of the park during the mid-afternoon hours of Feb. 14, 2026. Surveillance footage and additional witness statements reviewed by detectives indicate he entered the area by himself. Officials stated that no evidence has been found to suggest the involvement of another person.
Detectives reported no signs of foul play at the scene. Based on the evidence gathered so far, authorities said the death is being investigated as a suicide.
In the days following the discovery, social media posts and community commentary have circulated regarding the circumstances. Law enforcement officials have not confirmed those specific accounts and emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing pending final autopsy results.
The case has been referred to the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office for a full autopsy and toxicology testing. Authorities said additional information may be released once those results are finalized.
