Suspect Taken Into Custody Following Investigation Into Teen Girl’s Death

MONTERREY MEXICO, a 16-year-old suspect is in police custody following the alleged killing of a 15-year-old girl who had been reported missing for weeks, according to authorities.
Patines Reyes Pacrines, also known as “Patines,” was detained in connection with the death of Brithany Nahomy Reyna, 15, whose disappearance was reported on January 26.
Authorities said Brithany’s body was discovered inside a well in shallow terrain in the Barrio de la Industria sector, northwest of Monterrey. Preliminary findings indicate the victim was wrapped in plastic bags and had suffered at least one gunshot wound. Forensic specialists are conducting DNA testing to formally confirm her identity.
Investigators believe Reyes Pacrines was in a romantic relationship with Brithany and have identified him as the primary suspect in what officials are treating as a femicide case. According to the investigation, the suspect allegedly deprived the teen of her liberty for an undetermined period before killing her.
Authorities allege that after the crime, Reyes Pacrines wrapped Brithany’s body and used tools, including a shovel and a wheelbarrow, to transport her remains several blocks through the streets before placing her body inside a well located in a waste area of Solidaridad City. Officials said he then returned to his normal daily activities.
Since Brithany was reported missing, Reyes Pacrines had been considered a prime suspect. Prosecutors questioned him multiple times and placed him under surveillance. Authorities said the evidence eventually became overwhelming, leading to a confession in which he allegedly disclosed the exact location where the body had been hidden.
Brithany’s aunt, Socorro, said the teen told her mother she was going to her boyfriend’s home briefly to drop something off and planned to return shortly. That was the last time her family heard from her. Socorro said she was the final family member to see Brithany alive.
After authorities confirmed that a body had been located, relatives rushed to the scene as a large ministerial operation was underway. Police also conducted searches at the residence where Brithany was last seen and at other related properties in an effort to gather additional evidence.
Because the suspect is a minor, the case will move forward in a special juvenile court. The development has sparked public outrage, with Brithany’s family calling for justice and expressing concern that a reduced sentence could allow the suspect to return to society and pose a danger to others.
Authorities said Brithany’s father and grandfather have been summoned to the Forensic Medical Service to formally identify her remains as the investigation continues.
