Families of Three Revere High Graduates File Wrongful Death Lawsuit After Belize Resort Tragedy

REVERE MASS, The families of three women from the North Shore who were found dead at a resort in Belize last year have filed a wrongful death lawsuit after an autopsy in Massachusetts determined that all three died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Authorities in Belize initially suggested the deaths may have been linked to drug overdoses, but the later medical findings confirmed a different cause.
The three women, all in their 20s, were discovered deceased in their hotel room in February 2025.
Investigators said the carbon monoxide exposure was likely caused by a faulty instant water heater. The families are now seeking to hold the resort responsible, arguing that proper safety measures were not in place.
“The steps we are taking today are first and foremost about honoring Imane, Kaoutar, and Wafae, standing up for them in the only way we can,” said a family member of one of the women. “It is also about making sure that no other family has to go through what we are living with everyday.”
The family member added that no one should go on vacation believing they are safe only to learn that basic protections were missing and that those responsible may avoid accountability.
The families also said they want the case to be tried in Massachusetts rather than Belize in order to ensure what they believe would be a fair legal process.
