Knife Discovery Leads to Attempted Murder Charges Against Two Lake Brantley High Students

LAKE BRANTLEY FLORIDA, Two students at Lake Brantley High School have been charged with attempted murder after a knife was discovered during an investigation into a possible threat against another student, according to police.
Altamonte Springs police said they received information earlier Friday about a potential threat at the school. During the investigation, authorities determined that two students may have been involved. A search of one student’s bag led to the discovery of a knife and a note, police said. Both students were taken into custody.

In a news release, the Altamonte Springs Police Department said cooperation between police, the Seminole County School Board, and other law enforcement partners allowed for a rapid response that “helped prevent a potentially serious incident.”
Among the charges the students are facing are counts of premeditated attempted murder, according to the release. The investigation remains ongoing.
Police did not provide additional details about the nature of the alleged threat or the contents of the note.
The incident comes two weeks after officers responded to Lake Brantley High School for an unverified threat that was later determined to be a hoax. During that earlier incident, the school was placed on a Code Red, requiring students and teachers to remain in classrooms until authorities gave the all-clear.
Police are asking anyone with information related to the latest incident to contact the Altamonte Springs Police Department.
