HOLY CROSS, Police are investigating a violent assault that left a man seriously injured Thursday evening in the Holy Cross area near St. Peter’s Road.
According to law enforcement, officers were dispatched to the location after receiving reports of a fight. When police arrived, they discovered a man lying in a pool of blood. Witnesses informed officers that the victim had been struck on the head with a car wrench during the confrontation.
Emergency medical services transported the injured man to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released an update on his current condition.
The incident led to a large police presence, with portions of roadways closed in the northeast Holy Cross and Wallsend areas as officers secured the scene and conducted their investigation. Traffic delays were reported while evidence was gathered and witnesses were interviewed.
