One person injured in shooting near Woodrow Wilson High School in East Dallas

EAST DALLAS, one person was taken to the hospital after a shooting Thursday afternoon in the parking lot of Willis C. Winters Park, which is located near Woodrow Wilson High School on South Glasgow Drive, according to Dallas police.
Students inside Woodrow Wilson High School, situated directly across from the park, were placed on lockdown as officers secured the scene and began investigating. Authorities said the lockdown was implemented as a precaution to ensure the safety of students and staff while police worked in the area.
A police helicopter captured footage showing students at nearby J.J. Long Middle School being released early. The early dismissal led to heavy traffic congestion as parents and guardians arrived to pick up their children.
Multiple police units were seen surrounding a small black four-door vehicle parked near a large white trailer in the park’s parking lot. Police confirmed that their investigation is centered around the area near the vehicle, which is believed to be connected to the shooting near the Santa Fe Trail.
At this time, officials have not released additional information about the condition of the injured individual or whether any suspects have been identified. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have advised the public to stay away from the area.
Further updates are expected as more details become available from police.
