VILLANOVA, Pa. Villanova University temporarily closed its campus after a reported threat was made against an academic building, according to a NOVA ALERT issued to the university community.
In an email sent to students and staff, university officials said the FBI is actively investigating the threat and that authorities are still ascertaining its validity. Officials said the decision to act quickly was made out of an abundance of caution.
Students living on campus were instructed to remain inside their residence halls, while commuter students were advised not to come to campus until further notice. The university also confirmed an increased police presence across campus as a precautionary measure.
University leaders noted that the campus closure decision was influenced by heightened sensitivity following a hoax threat last August that prompted a significant law enforcement response.
At this time, officials said there have been no reports of injuries and no confirmation of any active incident on campus. Authorities emphasized that the situation is being taken seriously while investigators work to determine the credibility and scope of the reported threat.
The investigation remains ongoing, and university officials said additional updates will be shared through official alerts as more information becomes available.
