Le Vonta Harvey Arrested in Marion County Shooting Death of Aaron Reid Jr

INDIANAPOLIS, — Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Unit have arrested a suspect in connection with a New Year’s Eve homicide that claimed the life of an 18-year-old man.
Police announced that Le Vonta Harvey, 19, was taken into custody on an active murder warrant for his alleged role in the December 2025 shooting death of Aaron Reid Jr., 18.
According to IMPD, officers from the East District were dispatched at approximately 2:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, to the 3600 block of Willowood Drive after receiving reports of a person shot.
When officers arrived, they found Reid Jr. and a juvenile male, both suffering from injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.
Both victims were transported by Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital. Police said Reid Jr. later died from his injuries the following day. The condition of the juvenile victim has not been released.
IMPD Homicide detectives responded to the scene and began an investigation that included canvassing the area for surveillance video, interviewing witnesses, and collecting forensic evidence.
Investigators said detectives followed up on multiple leads over the following days, which ultimately led to Harvey being identified as the suspect.
On Jan. 20, 2026, detectives with the IMPD Violent Crimes Unit, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service and the Marion Police Department, located Harvey in Marion, Indiana, and took him into custody without incident.
Police emphasized that an arrest is an accusation and that Harvey is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
