Emergency Services Respond to Stabbing Incident at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College in Darlington

DARLINGTON, Police and ambulance crews were called to Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College on Tuesday afternoon following a stabbing incident at the Vane Terrace campus, authorities confirmed.

Emergency services were alerted at around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, prompting a significant response at the college. Several police vehicles and an ambulance were seen outside the campus, along with a Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) medical car.

By approximately 2:30 p.m., a large number of people were observed gathered in Stanhope Park, which is located opposite the college. Several students were seen outside the campus while emergency personnel continued working at the scene.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College confirmed the incident and sought to reassure the public.

“Earlier today, an incident occurred at the college which has required the emergency services to attend,” the spokesperson said. “Those professionals are currently working with the college. This is an isolated incident and does not present a risk to the college users or the general public.”

The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) also confirmed its response, stating that it received a call at 1:30 p.m. regarding an incident at a premises on Vane Terrace in Darlington.

“We dispatched a double-crewed ambulance, a clinical team leader, and were supported by the Great North Air Ambulance Service’s medical car,” a NEAS spokesperson said.

A spokesperson for the Great North Air Ambulance Service added that its critical care team was activated shortly after the initial call.

“Our critical care team was activated at 1:35 p.m. to an incident at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form in Darlington,” the spokesperson said. “Two doctors and a paramedic were deployed in a rapid response vehicle and arrived on scene at 1:47 p.m.”

At this time, there is no indication of any ongoing danger to students, staff, or members of the public. Authorities have not released further details about the individuals involved or the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The situation remains under investigation, and further updates are expected once police and emergency services provide additional information.
