Two Women Injured, Suspected Shooter Found Dead in Dallas Walmart Parking Lot

Authorities in Dallas are investigating a shooting that took place Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of a Walmart Supercenter in the 9300 block of Forest Lane.

Police responded to reports of gunfire around 3:40 p.m. and found two adult women with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. One woman appeared to have an injury to her hand, while the second victim was also hurt but alert when officers arrived. Both were transported to a nearby hospital for medical care. Their current conditions have not yet been released.

A short distance away, officers located a vehicle containing an unresponsive man. Dallas Fire-Rescue later confirmed that he was deceased and is believed to be the individual responsible for the shooting. Investigators are treating his death as an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Preliminary information suggests the incident may have been related to a domestic situation. Police believe the suspect may have followed someone to the location before the shooting occurred. The second woman is believed to have been an unintended bystander.

Off-duty officers in the area were among the first to assist and helped locate the suspected shooter. A significant police response followed, with investigators securing the scene, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing available surveillance footage.

Authorities say no additional suspects are being sought and there is no ongoing threat to the public. Detectives are working to confirm the relationship between those involved and understand what events led to the shooting.

Further details, including the identities of the individuals, will be released once notifications to family members are complete and the investigation moves forward.
